Holidays in London: A romantic weekend for Valentine’s Day in the British capital | Short Breaks & City Breaks | To travel

A whimsical stay in your very own “treehouse” hideaway

London is home to hundreds of hotels offering everything from high-end luxury to quirky boutique stays, but if you’re looking for something truly unique, check out the Treehouse Hotel.

Nestled high above Marylebone, this playful getaway combines the nostalgia of a childhood treehouse with all the comforts one would expect from a boutique hotel.

Opened in 2019, The Treehouse Hotel sits on the top five floors of a 1960s office building. From the outside, you might not notice it at all, but that’s exactly why you should never judge a book by its cover.

Once inside, guests can immerse themselves in a world of suspended greenery, contemporary wooden features and incredible views of the London Eye, The Shard, Canary Wharf and Regent’s Park.

The hotel offers its own “Tree Love” package, perfect for a romantic stay. Open your bedroom door to discover rose petals adorning the bedroom and bathroom, as well as specially appliqued bathrobes with a “Tree Love” arrow heart.

Breathtaking views of the cityscape are enhanced by a glass-walled bathroom, meaning all you have to do is draw the curtains for breathtaking views while enjoying a shower relaxing.

If you opt for the specialty package, you can also choose from two additional extras such as a bottle of Prosecco, a bouquet of flowers or two of The Nest’s bespoke bottled cocktails.

Although there are plenty of bars and restaurants in the surrounding area, all of your dining needs can be met without setting foot outside the treehouse.

The hotel is home to four different restaurants: Madera, a Mexican experience for breakfast, lunch, and dinner; Pizzeria Mozza, LA-based chef Nancy Silverton’s first UK restaurant; The Nest, a rooftop bar with the best views in the house; and the Backyard, a coffeeshop that, although located on the ground floor, gives the same uplifting feeling of being nestled in your own treehouse escape.

Head to Madera for breakfast, where standouts include the vegan breakfast, chorizo bowl and coconut parfait, with edible flowers.

Treehouse Hotel rooms start from £299 per night.

Borrow Cupid’s wings and fly above the city sunset

As the Mercutio of Romeo and Juliet put it: “You are a lover. Borrow Cupid’s wings and fly with them above a common boundary.”

This Valentine’s Day, take Shakespeare’s words literally and step aboard the Cupid’s Pod, a one-of-a-kind experience that gives lovers their own private pod on the London Eye. Raised 135 meters above the glittering city lights of London as the sun dips below the horizon, there is arguably no more romantic setting than this.

Each Cupid’s Pod experience lasts 30 minutes and comes with a bottle of Pommery Rosé Champagne and a deluxe box of Hotel Chocolat Pink Champagne Truffles.

All of this is served by your very own personal London Eye host, who is also on hand to introduce you to a range of interesting facts about the cityscape below.

If you’re looking to ask the big question this February 14, Cupid’s Pod tops the list of truly memorable experiences.

£470 for a private Cupid Pod or standard adult tickets from £27.
