United Club Business Card – Forbes Advisor

Earn rewards

United offers several co-branded credit cards, in addition to having a partnership through the Chase Ultimate Rewards® program, but the United Club Business Card stands out by offering the highest rewards on everyday spending: you’ll earn 2 miles per dollar spent on United purchases and 1.5 miles per dollar spent on all other purchases

During the first year of card membership, you can also qualify for a one-time welcome bonus of 100,000 bonus miles after spending $10,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening. The bonus is only available to cardholders who do not already hold the card and have not earned the bonus within the last 24 months.

Each month, all miles earned (including employee card miles) are deposited into the primary cardholder’s United Airlines account. There are no additional steps to take to redeem your rewards and they will be intermingled with any other United miles you have earned, such as those earned on flights.

Redeem rewards

Because miles earned through this card are treated the same as all other United miles, you’ll have access to all United reward options when redeeming. United Airlines no longer publishes an award chart, but you can find US domestic award flights for as low as 5,500 miles one-way in economy class. Unsurprisingly, international and premium cabin flights require significantly more miles.

Booking award flights with United miles is easy. Their website offers a robust reservation system, with prices displayed prominently throughout the search process. Partner airlines, primarily through Star Alliance, are also included in online search results, although some complicated travel itineraries may require booking over the phone.

Have a United Club℠ Business card*– or other United credit cards – provides access to an inventory of additional rewards exclusive to cardholders. Although these flights are most often short, budget flights, it can be a useful tool for putting together multi-leg trips. Additional inventory will automatically be included in search results as long as you are logged in during the search and reservation process.

In addition to using miles for award flights, members can also redeem miles for upgrades, vacation packages or even magazine and newspaper subscriptions. However, your best value will almost always be found in award tickets.

Rewards potential

As always, the potential rewards of this card are highly dependent on your annual business expenses.

To determine the rewards potential of the United Club℠ Business card*, we calculated what a sole proprietor or small business could spend overall each year and across bonus categories. Forbes Advisor uses data from various government agencies to determine both annual spending and spending in various categories. Based on the data, we calculated the following reward potential for a sample small business with $107,908 in revenue and $32,072 in expenses for the year.

If this company spent $3,040 a year on United Airlines flights and incidentals, it would earn 6,080 miles from the card’s airline bonus category. Every other spend of $29,032 earns 1.5 miles on the dollar or 43,548 miles, bringing annual earnings to a total of 49,628 miles, not including the potential first-year welcome bonus.
